Mobility equipment supplier Electric Mobility has unveiled the Rascal C60 Carbon, a new carbon fibre folding powerchair aimed at people who want a lightweight, travel-ready chair without sacrificing comfort or performance. The launch, announced on 6 July 2026 and first reported by THIIS Magazine, responds to growing demand for compact 4mph powerchairs that can be folded down for car boots, holidays and days out.

At the heart of the C60 Carbon is a high performance 10Ah lithium ferro-phosphate battery, which is covered by the Rascal LiFetime Battery Guarantee. Battery confidence matters enormously to powerchair users, replacement batteries are one of the biggest ongoing costs of owning powered mobility equipment, so a long term guarantee is a genuinely useful piece of added value rather than a marketing flourish. You can read more about typical running costs in our guide to wheelchair costs in the UK.

The chair combines a carbon fibre frame with all-around suspension and a high back seat with memory foam cushioning. Carbon construction keeps the weight down for lifting and transport, while the suspension and seating are designed to make longer journeys more comfortable than the rigid, minimally padded designs that some folding powerchairs rely on. A joystick control system provides simple operation, and an optional Bluetooth remote controller lets a companion manoeuvre the chair when it is empty, handy for loading it into a vehicle or repositioning it at home.

The folding design is the headline feature for travellers. Folding powerchairs have become one of the fastest growing corners of the UK powered mobility market because they suit people who split their time between home, car and public transport. If you are weighing up whether a powerchair or a scooter suits your lifestyle better, our guides to wheelchairs and mobility scooters walk through the trade-offs, from portability and range to posture support.

Electric Mobility, based in Ilminster, Somerset, is one of the UK’s most established mobility suppliers and is best known for its Rascal range of scooters and powerchairs, sold through a national network of mobility retailers. The company says the C60 Carbon is available now, with retailers able to order through their Area Dealer Manager. Details of the wider Rascal range are on the Electric Mobility website. Earlier this year the firm also added an independent single motor riser recliner to its CosiChair furniture range.

For buyers, the sensible next step is to try before you buy. A folding powerchair needs to suit your grip strength, your posture and the vehicle you plan to lift it into, and reputable dealers will offer a home demonstration.
