Winchester Mobility Opens Larger Showroom at Scylla Industrial Park

Last Updated on June 22, 2026 | Published: June 11, 2026

A mobility showroom

Independent retailer Winchester Mobility has moved to larger premises at Scylla Industrial Park in Winchester, just around the corner from its previous store, and has invited the local mayor to officially open the new showroom. The expansion was reported by trade publication THIIS Magazine.

The move gives the Hampshire retailer significantly more floor space to display equipment, from mobility scooters and powerchairs to daily living aids and mobility furniture such as rise and recline chairs and adjustable beds. Larger showrooms allow customers to test equipment properly before buying, something that matters enormously for products people rely on every day.

The expansion is part of a wider pattern of growth among bricks-and-mortar mobility retailers. While online sales have grown, many customers, particularly older buyers, still prefer to sit on a scooter, try a riser recliner or test a rollator before committing. Industry consolidation is also accelerating: national chain Eden Mobility recently reached 47 stores after acquiring Derbyshire Mobility, as covered by Foresight Group. Strong independents are responding by investing in bigger, better showrooms and local service.

For buyers, a good local retailer offers more than a sale. Aftercare, servicing, repairs and honest advice are where independent shops often shine. A showroom visit also lets an assessor check that a scooter suits your weight, posture and the terrain around your home, reducing the risk of an expensive mistake.
