Fleetwood Beach Wheelchairs is a volunteer-run charity providing free specialist beach wheelchair hire on Fleetwood seafront, Lancashire. The service was the first of its kind on the Fylde Coast, enabling wheelchair users and people with limited mobility to enjoy the beach environment alongside their families and friends.The charity operates a fleet of approximately 10 specialised beach wheelchairs designed for sand and uneven coastal terrain, with weight capacities up to 17 stones and safety features including lap belts and optional chest harnesses. A MoLift Mover 205 hoist is available on site to assist with transfers. The service runs from the seafront location opposite the Mount Hotel, operating weekends from March to October (10:30am to 4:30pm) with advance weekday bookings available year-round. The entire operation is staffed by volunteers, and wheelchair hire is completely free of charge. With consistently high user ratings, Fleetwood Beach Wheelchairs demonstrates that inclusive beach access is achievable, providing a genuinely life-enhancing service for disabled visitors to the Lancashire coast.
