Compare Mobility Equipment Quotes Side by Side

A clipboard with a form beside a pen and a laptop

Quick answer: enter two or three quotes for the same stairlift, bathroom, scooter, chair, bed or wheelchair and this tool lines them up side by side: the total on a common VAT basis, each price against the UK ranges we publish, the warranty, servicing, lead time, deposit and payment terms. Anything a quote leaves out is marked, so you know what to ask before you choose. You can print the comparison or download it as a spreadsheet.

Quotes for the same job are rarely written the same way. One includes fitting and a two-year warranty, another lists them as extras, a third does not mention VAT. Comparing totals alone can point you at the wrong one. Putting the terms in the same rows makes the differences obvious.

How the comparison works

Each quote is checked the same way as in our mobility quote checker: its total is placed against the published UK price range for that type of equipment, with the range adjusted for VAT. If every quote says how VAT is shown, the tool also converts each total to a price without VAT, so a zero-rated quote and a VAT-inclusive quote can be compared directly. If any quote does not say, the tool tells you the totals may not be on the same basis.

For stairlifts, scooters and wheelchairs, it adds an estimate of five years of servicing, using each supplier’s service price where you have one and our typical range where you do not. The price ranges, their sources and their dates are listed on the quote checker page.

What to look for

  • Same specification. A cheaper quote for a different model, or a reconditioned lift against a new one, is not like for like.
  • What is included. Fitting, delivery, removal of old equipment and making good after building work are often where the price difference lies.
  • Warranty and servicing. A longer warranty that covers parts and labour, or a service plan included for two years, can be worth more than a few hundred pounds off the price.
  • Payment terms. Be wary of paying in full before anything is delivered. A deposit paid by credit card is better protected than cash or a bank transfer.
  • Pressure. A price that is only available if you agree today is a sales tactic, not a reason to decide.

What it cannot tell you

The tool compares what the quotes say. It cannot check that a supplier will do what it promises, whether the equipment suits the person using it, or whether a quote leaves out something that only a survey would reveal. Look each company up in our directory for reviews and trading status, and ask an occupational therapist if you are unsure what is needed.

Frequently asked questions

How many quotes should I get for a stairlift or bathroom adaptation?

At least three written quotes for the same job, from companies that have seen the stairs or the room. That is enough to show whether one price is out of line and what each supplier includes.

Why does the tool show prices without VAT?

Because quotes show VAT differently. Some include it, some are zero-rated for VAT relief and some do not say. Converting every total to a price without VAT is the only way to compare like with like.

Is the cheapest quote the best one?

Not always. Check that it is for the same specification and includes fitting, delivery and a comparable warranty. A slightly dearer quote with a longer warranty and included servicing can cost less over five years.

Can I save the comparison?

Yes. Print it, save it as a PDF from the print dialogue, or download it as a CSV file that opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.

Is anything I type saved?

No. The comparison runs in your browser and nothing is stored or sent to Review Mobility.
