Quick answer: enter the price from a stairlift, bathroom, scooter, chair, bed or wheelchair quote and this checker compares it with the UK prices we have published, says where it sits, lists what the quote leaves out and gives you the questions to ask before you sign. It takes about three minutes. Nothing you type is stored.
It will not tell you a quote is fair or unfair. A price depends on your stairs, your bathroom and your needs, and we cannot see those. What it can do is show whether the total is in the usual range for that kind of equipment, and point out the gaps that tend to cause arguments later: fitting that wasn’t priced, a warranty nobody explained, servicing that starts costing money in year two.
Check a quote
Have the quote in front of you. Leave anything blank that it doesn’t show.
How the check works
The checker takes the total on your quote and compares it with a published price range for the same kind of equipment. If the quote and the range are on a different VAT basis, it converts the range first, so a zero-rated quote is compared with zero-rated prices. Then it places the quote in one of six positions, from well below the range to well above it. “Well above” means more than 25% over the top of the range.
It also reads your answers for things that are missing or worth asking about: lines that don’t add up to the total, no warranty length, servicing with no price, a deposit, or a price that was only on offer if you agreed that day. For stairlifts, scooters and wheelchairs it adds an estimate of five years of servicing, using your service price if you have one and the typical range if you don’t.
The price ranges it uses
Every range comes from a Review Mobility page you can read in full. Each row says what kind of figure it is. Observed listed prices are prices we recorded from retailers on a stated date. A researched range is the span we found across supplier listings and published guides while writing that page, which is less precise. We do not hold a database of customer quotes, and none of these figures come from one.

Two of the sources disagree with wider figures elsewhere on the site. For walk-in baths the checker uses £4,000 to £7,000 supplied and fitted, from our accessible bathroom guide, and shows the price index’s wider £2,500 to £12,000 next to it. For riser recliners it uses the £370 to £880 we recorded on Amazon UK on 5 October 2026 and shows the index’s £400 to £2,000, because showroom chairs and home-visit sales often cost more and we have no sample of those.
What it cannot tell you
- Whether the equipment is right for you. An occupational therapist assessment, which councils provide free, answers that.
- Regional differences. None of our ranges are broken down by region, so a London quote and a quote in Cumbria are compared with the same figures.
- Whether the specification justifies the price. A heavier user weight, a hinged rail, a longer warranty or a difficult installation can all put a fair quote above the range.
- Anything about domestic adjustable beds sold for comfort, or equipment outside the list. We don’t have reliable prices for those, so the checker gives you the checklist and the questions without a comparison.
Prices change. We review these ranges when the source pages are updated, and the date on each row is the date of the figure. If you think one is out of date, email hello@reviewmobility.co.uk and say which.
Your privacy
The check runs in your browser. Prices, the supplier name and your answers are not saved, not sent to Review Mobility and not shared. If you have agreed to analytics cookies, we count that the checker was used and which type of equipment was chosen, never the amounts or the names you enter.

Frequently asked questions
Does the checker tell me if a quote is a rip-off?
No. It shows where the price sits against the ranges we publish and what the quote leaves out. A price above the range can be justified by a hard installation or a better specification, so the right response is to ask the supplier why and get two more written quotes.
Where do the price ranges come from?
From Review Mobility’s own cost guides and price surveys, each linked in the table on this page with its date. Some are prices we recorded from retailers on a set day; others are researched ranges. None come from customer quotes.
Should I enter the price with or without VAT?
Enter the total exactly as the quote shows it and tell the checker how VAT is shown. It adjusts the range to match. If you are eligible for VAT relief, many mobility products and their installation can be zero-rated, which takes a sixth off a VAT-inclusive price.
Is anything I type saved?
No. The check runs in your browser and the figures are not stored or sent to us. You can print the results or download them as a text file to keep.
What if my equipment isn’t listed?
Choose “Other equipment”. You won’t get a price comparison, because we don’t hold reliable prices for it, but you will get the checklist of missing costs and the questions to ask.
