CareCo opens Preston hub to speed up home installations across the North West

National mobility retailer CareCo has opened a regional installation and servicing hub in Preston, creating six jobs and cutting delivery and installation lead times by up to six days. The news was reported by THIIS Magazine on 5 October 2026.

The hub will serve customers across Greater Manchester, Liverpool and North Wales. CareCo expects it to support between 1,800 and 1,900 home installations and around 200 mobile service visits each year. It joins CareCo’s principal distribution hubs in Braintree, Dudley and Leeds.

The Preston operation sits inside NRS Healthcare’s existing Preston facility. That arrangement follows Mobilitas Group’s acquisition of NRS Healthcare in 2025, since CareCo and NRS Healthcare are both part of Mobilitas Group. Using shared space lets CareCo bring stock, installation teams and technical support closer to customers without building a new site. The hub occupies about 3,000 square feet of racking and assembly space, with room for roughly 80 pallets, and can hold up to four days’ worth of stock prepared for home installation. A dedicated engineering area will handle the assessment and repair of products collected from customers.

The launch fleet is made up of two branded long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans for home installations and a Mercedes-Benz Vito for mobile servicing. Each vehicle carries specialist racking and diagnostic equipment so technicians can install products and complete repairs on the first visit wherever possible. All three are connected to CareCo’s telematics system for route planning and fleet management. The company also hopes to remove around 70,000 transit miles a year from UK roads through more localised routing, and plans to expand its network of mobile technicians in the coming months.

Benedict Crouch, Head of Operations at CareCo, said that previously many deliveries and service visits in the region required vehicles and engineers to travel considerably further, and that holding installation-ready stock in Preston should help complete deliveries sooner and respond faster when equipment needs attention.

For customers, the practical benefit is shorter waits. CareCo expects delivery and installation times to fall by between three and six days across the areas served, though it notes this is subject to seasonal demand. Lead times matter most for items that need fitting in the home, such as riser recliner chairs, bath lifts and similar equipment, where a person may be waiting on a safe way to sit, stand or wash. Faster first-visit repairs also mean fewer days without equipment you rely on.

A new hub does not change how you should buy. Whichever supplier you use, ask for a written delivery date, find out who carries out installation and servicing, and check what happens if something goes wrong after fitting. If you are considering larger adaptations, a Disabled Facilities Grant from your local council may help with the cost, depending on your circumstances.
