The short answer
We ranked eight raised toilet seats sold on Amazon UK against their makers’ own product pages, leaflets and instructions on 30 September 2026:
- Aidapt Viscount: best overall. 2, 4 or 6 inch, with or without a lid, 190 kg, and a 2025 manual.
- Drive DeVilbiss Ticco 2G: best for heavier users. Rated to 225 kg, with a two-year warranty.
- Drive DeVilbiss Raised Toilet Seat with Removable Arms: best with arms to push up on.
Need something to hold as well? See toilet frames and grab rails. Can’t get to the toilet at night? See commodes.
A raised toilet seat sits on the toilet bowl in place of the normal seat and lifts it by 2, 4 or 6 inches (about 5, 10 or 15 cm), so there is less distance to lower yourself and push back up. It is one of the cheapest and most common aids after a hip or knee operation. The questions that matter are how high, how it fixes to the bowl, and whether it will fit your toilet.
What checking the documents turned up
Drive DeVilbiss’s own spec table for the 4 inch Ticco 2G with lid gives “Height 10cm (4″)” and, in the same row, “Seat Height 15cm”. The 4 inch version without a lid is listed with a seat height of 5 cm. We read the table on 30 September 2026.
5 of the 8 raised toilet seats we checked have a figure their maker gives two ways, from dimensions that differ between a product page and a leaflet (Homecraft Savanah) to an NRS “with Lid” seat whose spec table says “With Lid? N”.
None of the eight makers’ documents that we read names a standard, a CE or UKCA mark, or says the seat is a medical device, and 4 of the 8 publish no warranty period. Weight limits run from 135 kg (the Drive seat with arms) to 225 kg (Ticco 2G), with five of the eight at 190 kg.
How we ranked them
We started from the raised toilet seats Amazon UK sells new from makers who publish their own documents, then read every product page, leaflet and set of instructions we could open. We ranked on five things, most important first:
- The user weight limit, and whether the maker’s documents agree on it.
- The heights on offer, and whether the maker says how it fixes and what toilets it fits.
- Whether the documents agree with each other.
- Cleaning and hygiene: cut-outs, smooth surfaces, heat disinfection.
- A warranty period stated in writing.
Price was a tie-breaker only. The boxes on this page show Amazon’s live price. Raised toilet seats are often lent free by councils and hospital discharge teams; see the FAQ. If you buy, a UK supplier can sell one without VAT for a disabled person’s own use; see our VAT relief guide.

1. Aidapt Viscount (VR224): best raised toilet seat overall
The Viscount comes in all three standard heights, each with or without a lid, and Aidapt rates every version at 190 kg (30 stone). It fixes with two hand wheels and a front lip that sits outside the bowl, has a 100 mm front cut-away for cleaning, and Aidapt says it fits the majority of UK toilet bowls. Its manual is dated January 2025 and gives heat-disinfection settings.
Aidapt’s own trade table lists the Amazon listing for each code, so there is no doubt which version you are buying. One oddity: for the lidded versions, the table’s “Seat Height” row reads 100, 130 and 160 mm for seats sold as 2, 4 and 6 inch, probably the height to the top of the lid.
Our verdict (documents last checked 30 September 2026)
Every height, with or without a lid, 190 kg, and the best paperwork here.
Best for: most people, especially after a hip or knee operation.
Not for: anyone who needs arms to push up on; add a frame or rails.
| Heights | 2, 4 and 6 inch, with or without integral lid |
| Max user | 190 kg (30 st) |
| Fixing | Hand wheels; front lip outside the bowl |
| Seat | 35.5 cm wide, 40 cm deep; aperture 27.5 x 22 cm |
| Cut-out | 100 mm front cut-away |
| Weight | 0.82 to 1.45 kg depending on version |
| Cleaning | Heat disinfection 90C 1 min, 85C 3 min or 80C 10 min |
| Warranty | 12 months |
Where the maker’s own documents disagree
Seat height. The seats sold as 2, 4 and 6 inch with lid are listed with “Seat Height (mm)” 100, 130 and 160 on the same page that lists the no-lid versions at 50, 100 and 150.
2. Drive DeVilbiss Ticco 2G: best for heavier users
The Ticco 2G takes 225 kg (35 stone), the highest limit here, and carries a two-year warranty, the longest here. It comes in 5, 10 and 15 cm heights, most with or without a lid, has a front hygiene cut-out, and Drive’s page and leaflet agree on the limit and the product weights.
Drive’s spec table gets its own 10 cm rows wrong: the lidded 4 inch is given as “Height 10cm” and “Seat Height 15cm”, and the unlidded 4 inch as 10 cm and 5 cm. The 5 cm and 15 cm rows are consistent. Drive does not say which toilets it fits.
Our verdict (documents last checked 30 September 2026)
The highest limit and longest warranty here, with a spec table that muddles its 4 inch heights.
Best for: heavier users, up to 225 kg.
Not for: anyone who needs to confirm fit before buying; Drive gives no fit guidance.
| Heights | 5, 10 and 15 cm (2, 4 and 6 in) |
| Max user | 225 kg (35 st) |
| Fixing | Tool-free onto the bowl |
| Seat width | 39 cm |
| Weight | 0.8 kg to 1.7 kg depending on version |
| Warranty | 2 years |
Where the maker’s own documents disagree
4 inch with lid (523400000): “Height 10cm (4″)” and “Seat Height 15cm” in the same spec table.
4 inch without lid (523300000): “Height 10cm (4″)” and “Seat Height 5cm”.
3. Drive DeVilbiss Raised Toilet Seat with Removable Arms (12027RA): best with arms
This seat has padded arms that push-pin into place and lift out for a sideways transfer. It raises the seat by 13 cm, clamps with rear wings and a front worm-screw knob, and has a front recess for hygiene. Drive’s page and March 2022 instructions agree on every figure: 135 kg, 43 cm seat width, 2 kg.
The instructions warn that the arms are not to take full body weight during a transfer, and that it will not fit every toilet. At 135 kg it has the lowest limit here, and there is no lid.
Our verdict (documents last checked 30 September 2026)
Arms to steady yourself and consistent paperwork, at a 135 kg limit.
Best for: users who want something to hold when sitting and standing.
Not for: users over 135 kg, or anyone who puts full weight through the arms.
| Height | 13 cm (single height) |
| Max user | 135 kg (21 st) |
| Fixing | Rear wings and front worm-screw knob, tool-free |
| Arms | Removable, foam padded |
| Seat | 43 cm wide, 42 cm deep |
| Weight | 2 kg |
| Warranty | 1 year |
4. Homecraft Savanah: front and rear cut-outs, dimensions that vary
The Savanah has cut-outs at both front and rear for personal cleaning, adjustable brackets with a large hand wheel, and a clip-in lid option. Homecraft rates it at 190 kg in every document.
Its sizes are another matter. The leaflet gives 407 mm long and 370 mm wide excluding brackets; the with-lid product page gives 387 mm by 349 mm including brackets, and the without-lid page 37 cm wide with brackets. The seat opening differs slightly too. No warranty period is published, and Homecraft says the product contains natural rubber latex.
Our verdict (documents last checked 30 September 2026)
Front and rear cut-outs and 190 kg, with three different sets of dimensions and no stated warranty.
Best for: users who find cleaning easier with a rear cut-out.
Not for: anyone with a latex allergy.
| Heights | 2, 4 and 6 inch, with or without lid |
| Max user | 190 kg (30 st) |
| Fixing | Adjustable brackets, hand wheel |
| Cut-outs | Front and rear |
| Size | 407 x 370 mm excl. brackets (leaflet); 387 x 349 mm incl. brackets (page) |
| Warranty | Not published |
Where the maker’s own documents disagree
Size. The with-lid page gives “349.2 mm x 387.35 mm) including the adjustable brackets”; the leaflet gives “Length 407mm” and “Width 370mm … excluding brackets”.
Seat opening: 269.2 x 203.2 mm on the page, 266 x 207 mm in the leaflet.
5. NRS Linton Plus: 190 kg, confused spec tables
The Linton Plus fits with two adjustable brackets and a front lip, has front and rear cut-outs, and is rated at 190 kg in every version. NRS sells it in 2, 4 and 6 inch heights, with and without a lid.
NRS’s spec tables are unreliable. All three “with Lid” pages say “With Lid? N”, the “Height Adjustable” rows hold figures that cannot describe a fixed seat, and some pages give a 7 kg weight next to 1.4 to 2 kg. NRS publishes no warranty or fit guidance.
Our verdict (documents last checked 30 September 2026)
A 190 kg design sold with spec tables you cannot trust.
Best for: users who want front and rear cut-outs at 190 kg.
Not for: anyone who needs to confirm details from the maker’s page.
| Heights | 2, 4 and 6 inch, with or without lid |
| Max user | 190 kg (30 st) |
| Fixing | Two adjustable brackets and front lip |
| Cut-outs | Front and rear |
| Weight | 0.92 to 1.96 kg depending on version |
| Warranty | Not published |
Where the maker’s own documents disagree
Lid. The page titled “Linton Plus Raised Toilet Seat with Lid, 2” (50mm) – Retail” has “With Lid? N” in its spec table; so do the 4 and 6 inch lid pages.
6. Aidapt 4 inch Raised Toilet Seat with Padding (VR224M): padded, with a missing manual
Aidapt’s padded seat puts a soft TPR layer on a 4 inch raised seat, for users who find a hard seat uncomfortable. It is rated at 190 kg with a 12-month warranty.
Its own page disagrees with itself: overall width 367 mm against 350 mm, overall height 150 mm against 100 mm, and a seat height of 126 mm for a seat sold as 4 inch (about 102 mm). The page describes the padding as both TPR and PU, and its only manual link returns an error.
Our verdict (documents last checked 30 September 2026)
Padded and rated to 190 kg, with a page that gives three sizes two ways and no manual.
Best for: users who find a hard seat uncomfortable.
Not for: anyone who needs exact dimensions before buying.
| Height | 4 inch (page gives seat height 126 mm) |
| Max user | 190 kg (30 st) |
| Fixing | Supplied brackets |
| Size | 367 or 350 mm wide (both on the page) |
| Weight | 1.2 kg (1.7 kg with lid) |
| Warranty | 12 months |
Where the maker’s own documents disagree
Width: “Overall Width (mm) 367” and “Product Dimensions (mm) 400x350x100” on the same page.
Height: “Overall Height (mm) 150” against 100 mm in the product dimensions; “Height of Seat 126” for a 4 inch seat.
7. NRS Novelle Clip-On: for travel
The Novelle clips onto the toilet’s existing seat instead of the bowl, with no brackets, so it goes on and off in seconds and packs for a trip. It adds 75 mm, 100 mm overall, and NRS rates it at 190 kg.
NRS’s product page is the only maker document, and it gives no warranty, cut-out or fit guidance. Because it sits on the existing seat, that seat and its hinges carry the load.
Our verdict (documents last checked 30 September 2026)
A quick, portable raise for travel, with only a product page behind it.
Best for: holidays and visits.
Not for: everyday use at home, where a bowl-mounted seat is steadier.
| Height | 75 mm on the existing seat (100 mm overall) |
| Max user | 190 kg (30 st) |
| Fixing | Clips to existing toilet seat, no brackets |
| Weight | 0.9 kg |
| Warranty | Not published |
8. Eazy Raised Toilet Seat: 200 kg claim, thin paperwork
Eazy (EazyMobility of Huntingdon) sells its raised seat in 4 and 6 inch versions, with or without a lid, and a 4 inch version with handles, all rated at 200 kg and fixed with rubber clamps without tools. The maker says it suits most round and elongated UK toilets.
Its product page is the only document, and it gives no dimensions, product weight, warranty or safety marking in its text. The fit guide is in the images.
Our verdict (documents last checked 30 September 2026)
A 200 kg claim and handle option, with the least paperwork in this ranking.
Best for: buyers who want a handled seat and are happy to rely on the listing.
Not for: anyone who needs dimensions and a warranty in writing.
| Heights | 4 and 6 inch; with lid, without lid, or with handles (4 in) |
| Max user | 200 kg |
| Fixing | Rubber locking clamps, tool-free |
| Dimensions | Not published |
| Warranty | Not published |
Seats we checked but did not rank
Drive DeVilbiss 2 inch seat (Amazon listing B00427I6V2): a different Drive model, not listed by Drive DeVilbiss UK. NRS Mowbray: a toilet frame, not a raised seat. NRS Soft Padded raised seat: not on NRS’s website, and we found no maker document.
Before you buy: height and fit
- Height: measure from the floor to the back of the knee and from the floor to the top of the toilet bowl. The difference is roughly the raise you need. After a hip replacement, follow the height your hospital team gives you.
- Fit: measure the bowl’s inside width and length and its shape. Seats with brackets or a front lip need a clear rim; some will not fit square, wall-hung or unusually shaped bowls.
- Check it every time: brackets loosen. Rock the seat before sitting.
- Support: a raised seat does not give you anything to hold. Add a toilet frame or rails if you need to push up.
Watch: using a raised toilet seat
This demonstration from Oxfordshire County Council shows how to use a toilet frame and raised toilet seat.
Frequently asked questions about raised toilet seats
What is the best raised toilet seat in the UK?
Of the eight raised toilet seats we checked against their makers’ documents on 30 September 2026, the Aidapt Viscount ranks first: it comes in 2, 4 and 6 inch with or without a lid, is rated at 190 kg, and has a 2025 manual. For heavier users, the Drive DeVilbiss Ticco 2G is rated to 225 kg with a two-year warranty.
What height raised toilet seat do I need?
Measure from the floor to the back of the knee, subtract the height of the toilet bowl, and choose the nearest size. After a hip operation, use the height your occupational therapist or hospital team gives you.
Will a raised toilet seat fit my toilet?
Most fit a standard UK round or elongated bowl, but not all. Aidapt says the Viscount fits the majority of UK bowls, and Drive says its seat with arms will not fit all toilet types. Measure the bowl and check the maker’s fit notes before buying.
How much weight can a raised toilet seat take?
The eight we ranked are rated from 135 kg (Drive seat with removable arms) to 225 kg (Drive Ticco 2G). Five of the eight are rated at 190 kg.
Can I get a raised toilet seat free?
Often, yes. Hospitals commonly supply one before discharge after a hip or knee operation, and councils lend them as community equipment after an occupational therapy assessment. See how community equipment works.
How do I clean a raised toilet seat?
Use a non-abrasive cleaner or mild detergent and a soft cloth, then dry it. Aidapt’s Viscount manual also gives heat-disinfection settings: 90C for 1 minute, 85C for 3 minutes or 80C for 10 minutes. Seats with front or rear cut-outs are easier to keep clean.
