About Bromakin Wheelchairs

Bromakin is a specialist wheelchair company based in Loughborough, Leicestershire, founded in 1983 by Paralympic gold medallist Peter Carruthers MBE. Rather than a general mobility shop, it focuses on manual, active-user and sports wheelchairs, with on-site fabrication that allows chairs to be built and adjusted around the individual, which matters for posture, comfort and independence.

The core of the business is custom and lightweight wheelchairs, sports and active-user chairs, paediatric wheelchairs, powerchairs and handcycles, along with wheelchair power attachments, cushions, backrests and accessories. Brands supplied include Quickie and Sunrise Medical, RGK, Kuschall, TiLite, Invacare and Permobil, and the company also offers some scooters, rollators, riser-recliners and access ramps. Personalised customer assessments help match the chair to the user.

Aftercare and engineering are a genuine strength. Bromakin services and repairs wheelchairs, offers home and workplace call-out repairs, and is an accredited Motability Scheme provider, so eligible customers can lease through the scheme. With more than 40 years of experience and in-house fabrication, the team can configure and modify chairs in ways an off-the-shelf retailer often cannot.

Bromakin serves Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire from its Loughborough showroom, and supplies its specialist wheelchairs more widely across the UK. For people who need a wheelchair built and fitted around them, a sports chair, or expert assessment and repair rather than an off-the-shelf model, Bromakin offers genuine specialist knowledge and engineering.

    ★★★★★★★★★★5.0

I am so glad we bought my mum’s electric wheelchair from Bromakin Wheelchairs a couple of years ago. Their service has always been superb and they are very friendly and efficient. When her wheelchair suddenly developed a problem and needed to go in for repairs she had a replacement on loan within 2 hours of my telephoning them first thing this morning.
